Leviticus 19:18

This website has been moved to: https://debatemap.live

Leviticus 19:18: You shall not take vengeance, nor bear any grudge against the children of your people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself: I am the Lord.
Matthew 22:39: And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’

1 Corinthians 10:24: Let no one seek his own, but each one the other’s well-being.

Leviticus and Matthew say that we should love our neighbors as much as ourselves, but First Corinthians says that we should love our neighbors more than ourselves.

It is merely a matter of grammar to say that the verses contradict each other. Their intended meaning is very clear: it is better to love your neighbor than yourself.
