Matthew 8:16

This website has been moved to:

Matthew 8:16: When evening had come, they brought to Him many who were demon-possessed. And He cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all who were sick,
Luke 4:40: When the sun was setting, all those who had any that were sick with various diseases brought them to Him; and He laid His hands on every one of them and healed them.

Mark 1:32-34: At evening, when the sun had set, they brought to Him all who were sick and those who were demon-possessed. And the whole city was gathered together at the door. Then He healed many who were sick with various diseases, and cast out many demons; and He did not allow the demons to speak, because they knew Him.

Matthew and Luke say that Jesus healed all of the people there, but Mark says that Jesus healed only most of the people there.

"All" and "many" would only contradict each other if the word "many" were used like this: "Jesus healed many of the people who were sick and cast out many of the demons".

Rather, what we find is this: "Jesus healed many who were sick and cast out many demons"

The difference being, of course, that one uses the form "healed many of the sick people" while the other uses "healed many sick people".

Since the latter is what's actually used in the verse from Mark, it does not contradict the statement that all who had come were healed. ("healed many sick people" does not contradict "healed all the sick people")
