Romans 4:9

This website has been moved to:

Romans 4:9: Does this blessedness then come upon the circumcised only, or upon the uncircumcised also? For we say that faith was accounted to Abraham for righteousness.

James 2:21: Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered Isaac his son on the altar?

Romans says that Abraham was justified by faith, but James says that Abraham was justified by works.

The 'works' referred to in James is probably just another way of describing the trust and reliance that Abraham had in God. (which was demonstrated through works, by his willingness to sacrifice his son)

Such a thing could be understandably described as a form of both 'faith' and 'works', in that the two concepts are intertwined in this situation.
