Second Corinthians 12:16

This website has been moved to:

2 Corinthians 12:16: But be that as it may, I did not burden you. Nevertheless, being crafty, I caught you by cunning!

1 Thessalonians 2:3: For our exhortation did not come from error or uncleanness, nor was it in deceit.

Second Corinthians says that Paul uses trickery, but First Thessalonians says that Paul does not use trickery.

The second verse is speaking to an entirely different group of people, regarding an entirely different occasion—he doesn't say that he never uses trickery.

Having caught someone 'by cunning', is not the same as doing so 'in deceit'. One can be cunning without being deceitful.
