The Bible contains a number of genealogies, which, when fitted together, indicate that there have been fewer than 150 generations since the creation of Adam. It also tells us these people's ages, which allows us to calculate the age of the earth.

As is shown below, this method indicates that the earth is around 6,000 years old.

(Regular text is substantiated either by passages on the same line or by already established information. Italic text is substantiated by later information (usually from the next line). Bracketed text isn't substantiated (by us) but was listed in Ussher's Chronology.)

From Earth's Creation to Adam's Creation

Archeology takes it from here; it dates the conquering of Jerusalem to have happened in 587 BC3. The rest of this document shows that the Bible supports this date by continuing to the time of Jesus.
